As part of the EXIST Startup Factory program, GOe FUTURE is based on a public-private partnership model that combines public funding with private capital. This model provides a strong foundation for the long-term development of the life science startup ecosystem.

We bring together people, expertise, and organizations across science, entrepreneurship, business, and society to create opportunities for life science innovation and entrepreneurship.

Turning scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions takes time, expertise, and capital. For life science startups, long development cycles, high levels of risk, and significant capital requirements make the path from research to market particularly demanding.

We address these specific challenges by bringing together expertise, networks, programs, and partners. We build on existing strengths within the ecosystem, create targeted formats, and fill gaps where additional support can strengthen the foundation and sustainable growth of life science startups.

Lower Saxony

A strong foundation for life science innovation

Lower Saxony offers an exceptional foundation for life science innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the heart of the region is the Hannover–Göttingen–Braunschweig research triangle, bringing together universities, universities of applied research, and leading non-university research institutions. Across 14 participating institutions, a broad spectrum of scientific expertise, technologies, and talent creates strong potential for new ideas, spin-offs, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The numbers tell part of the story: Around 90,000 students are educated in the region, including approximately 20,000 in the life sciences. This concentration of scientific talent provides a strong foundation for new ideas, spin-offs, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Combined with the region's research infrastructure and existing ecosystem of partners, it creates an excellent starting point for turning scientific excellence into entrepreneurial opportunities.

We build on this foundation. We bring together the strengths already present in the region, connect them with partners across Germany and internationally, and create programs and formats that support life science innovation where additional opportunities can make a difference.
